Earthquake Engineer – Catastrophe Risk Modelling

Seismic Hazard and Risk Analysis

Ömer Odabaşı obtained his bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in civil engineering (2014) at Kocaeli University, and his master’s degree (M.Sc.) in earthquake engineering (2016) at Bogazici University in Turkey. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University Scool for Advanced Studies of Pavia (IUSS) in the Understanding and Managing Extremes (UME) department.

During his graduate studies, he served as teaching assistant in the bodies of both Bogazici University and IUSS. His primary expertise is the seismic risk assessment of engineering structures. He is particularly experienced in finite element modelling, nonlinear response analysis of structures, ground-motion record selection. He is proficient in the programming languages of C#, JAVA, Python and Matlab. Currently at RED, he works as an earthquake risk modeller and analyst.
